Flourishing By God's Word
A Word from the Principal
I should warn you that if you use beautiful words when you're talking with me- words like...sumptuous, bombinate, mettle, or ineffable- then you'll likely lose me in the conversation. I'll simply stop hearing what you say because I'll be savouring how you said it. I love words.
Our school theme this year contains the carefully chosen word flourishing to describe what is happening among our students and staff! On a superficial level, the 2018-2019 school year boasts the largest enrolment in BCS history, the addition of 4 new class sections in grades JK, 6, 8, and 9, and even an additional bus route! But flourishing means more than just numerical and physical growth—it connotes health, vitality, and a connection to purpose! More than ever, BCS staff are professionally engaged in the learning of our students and working committedly to see them thrive “academically, spiritually, socially, and physically” in a Christ-centred environment.
Our theme also connects the school’s flourishing directly with God’s Word. This expression “God’s Word” actually refers to two things: the first is the Bible (the written Word) and the second is Jesus Christ himself (described as the Word in the Gospel of John).
Just as our words capture and express our own thoughts and feelings, so too do these two distinct forms of God’s Word capture and express His love for us.

2018-2019 Theme Verses: 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11
