Bantam Girls Volleyball Finalists!
BCS - Building a Firm Foundation
The BCA Bantam Girls’ Volleyball Team is advancing to the ROPSSAA (Region of Peel) Gold Medal Final after their semi-final victory over Mississauga Secondary School Wednesday, February 16th. The Bobcats came out strong in the first set, deflating the Mississauga Lions with their precise passing and aggressive attacks. They coasted to an easy win 25-11 in the best of three semi-final.
In the second set, buoyed by loud cheering and a boisterous bench, Misissauga came out looking for revenge. They attacked the deep corners of the Bobcat court and earned strong lead.. Coaches Cabral and Grabham used both their time-outs and a substitution working to settle the Bobcats down. When BCA team captain Jasleen Chahal took the ball to serve, the Bobcats were down an astounding 22-11.
Jasleen had finished off the Lions in the first set, winning the last 9 points of that game with her serve. The Bobcats bench got loud as Jasleen went to work. After 7 points, the Lions Coach called their first time-out. After another 3, they called their second time-out. They made several substitutions, but nothing could stop the Bobcats 14 point run to win the set 25-22 and the match 2-0!
Next Wednesday, the Bobcats will play the winner of Lorne Park Secondary vs. Streetsville Secondary for the Peel championship title.
Team Members: Ishana, Megan, Cassia, Chanpreet, Jasleen, Simi, Raji, Megen, Jasmine, Emma and Amy.
