Grade 6
Grade 6 is an exciting year as it marks the beginning of Junior High at Brampton Christian School. Grade 6 is the first year for students to participate in the instrumental music program. Students have the opportunity to showcase their musical talents on two occasions throughout the year. These events are the Christmas Concert and Arts Night, which is held in early May.
Sports are an important part of life in the junior high. Grade 6 students are able to try out for a variety of sports teams including cross-country, track, soccer, basketball, softball and swimming.
Students in Grade 6 participate in several field trips throughout the year. Trips that have been taken this year include the Brampton Flying Club, Crawford Lake Conservation Area, attending an Argos football game, and skiing at Mount St. Louis/Moonstone. Every year towards the end of May the classes attend a three day retreat at Fair Glen Outdoor Education Centre. This time away is a great time of bonding for students and teachers as the year draws to a close. Activities include canoeing, co-operative games and nightly campfires.
The Grade 6 curriculum follows the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines. An important addition, however, is the inclusion of Christian Education class each day. This is an opportunity for students to both share and learn more about Christianity and what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each class is also responsible for presenting one chapel to the rest of the Junior High classes. A special chapel is held during Spirit Week in September. This is a wonderful chance for the students in Junior High to get to know each other through friendly class challenges and competitions.
Grades 7-8
The experiences of students in Junior High are many and varied. As students continue to progress academically and spiritually, they continue to improve in their understanding of how God desires us to live -- for His glory. They learn to value the relationships built with friends and teachers, and sometimes even their competition. As we continue through this year, keep checking this page to see some student reflections of events happening in the Junior High!
